Betul district is well known for its Bamboo craft, Metal craft and Pottery craft and most of the households of almost all the blocks are involved in these traditional crafts. Betul block of the district is especially known for the Bamboo craft and mostly the artisans belong to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe communities. These artisans are making soopa, daliya, hand-fans, baskets, taat-patti (carpet & curtains of bamboo), pots, tables and other such crafts that are easily sold in local market.

The bamboo based products currently being manufactured in the cluster are baskets of various sizes. Also trays called “soopa”, taat-patti (carpet & curtains of bamboo) and pots woven with bamboo are also made but they are smaller in volumes. In the last two years, IA has been working with the artisans to expand their product range (bamboo furniture, murals, wall hangings, lampshades, etc.)
